Commissioner Várhelyi visits Morocco to launch new support programmes and discuss the potential for cooperation

The commissioner for neighbourhood and enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, is in Morocco for an official visit. He will begin his visit in Casablanca, where he will meet the director general of the Mohammed VI investment fund, Mohammed Benchaâboun and representatives of the private sector. He will also take a trip on the city’s tram network, which has benefitted from European funding.

 

The commissioner will then travel to Rabat, where he will meet the Moroccan minister of foreign affairs, African cooperation and Moroccan expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and other government ministers. He will attend the signing ceremony for five cooperation programmes with a value of approximately €500 million, focused on the key priorities of Morocco and the European Union: social security, agriculture and forests, financial inclusion, government reform and migration. He will also announce the recent adoption of new cooperation programmes worth €126 million as part of the 2022 annual action plan for Morocco.
