The crisis of migrants and refugees in Europe will be the focus of the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg (25-29 January).

On the migration crisis, the reports on the theme of “The Mediterranean Sea: a front door to irregular migration” and “Organised crime and migrants” will be discussed.

Concerning international terrorism, the reports on “Foreign fighters in Syria and Iraq” and “Combating international terrorism while protecting Council of Europe standards and values” will be presented.

“Only a common European response based on principles of solidarity, responsibility and human rights standards can address the present migratory and refugee crisis”, says the Council of Europe in its report.
