“Since the creation, in 2018 of the three EBSOMED Employers Thematic Committees we have seen important changes and shifts within the Mediterranean region and the business ecosystem. The past two years especially have impacted the economies and businesses of the region, who had to adapt to the upcoming challenges and demands, to ensure business continuity.

These challenges and shifts the region is facing, have also increased the relevance of the topics put forward by the employers. On one hand, Innovation and Energy technologies have been put at the forefront of not only the economic recovery, but also looking ahead to find sustainable business solutions. On the other hand, these innovations imply also a more important focus on vocational training to bridge the skill mismatch issued by the latest advancement and digitization of our economies. Finally, the role of women has become more and more central, along with youth, as they are considered the future engines of the Mediterranean and African economies, hence the EBSOMED project focused on the importance of gender mainstreaming and their empowerment within SMEs and businesses.

These themes have also been put at the forefront by other institutions and organizations. Overall, these efforts of the international partners make the studies, reports and factsheets issued within the employers’ thematic committees of increased relevance.”
