EU Ambassador Christian Berger visited last week an EU-funded project in Minya, capital of the Minya governorate in Upper Egypt, approximately 245 kms south of Cairo. The project is implemented by the NGO CEOSS (Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services) and provides women with better skills and job opportunities, increase their income and help them achieve their goals.
Ambassador Berger also visited irrigation projects (canal rehabilitation and pumping stations) funded by the EU and Italy. The EU programme has helped increase crop yield, raise the income of farmers and contribute to sustainable rural development.
