EU Ambassador Angelina Eichhorst present her credentials to President Sisi

Ambassador Angelina Eichhorst presented her credentials to H.E. President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on 24 March as the new Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Egypt. “I am honoured to serve as the EU Ambassador to Egypt and the League of Arab States, and offer my heartfelt greetings and deep respect to the people of Egypt. The EU and Egypt are close partners and enjoy a long-standing friendship and strong relations at a time of major geo political challenges. The EU is Egypt’s largest trading partner and the number one foreign direct investor. We work together on lasting solutions for the region,” Ambassador Eichhorst said.

 

Angelina Eichhorst served as Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation to Lebanon from 2011 to 2015, was posted in Syria and Jordan. Since 2015 she was the Director and then Managing Director for Europe at the European External Action Service (EEAS) in Brussels, working closely with the EU’s High Representatives / Vice Presidents Ashton, Mogherini and Borrell. Between 2015-2019 she was the Chief Negotiator assisting HRVP Mogherini on the Belgrade – Pristina Dialogue and has actively worked since 2018 on the Cyprus issue and the EU approach to the Eastern Mediterrnean. She has been working for the EU institutions since the start of the Barcelona Process in November 1995. Angelina Eichhorst is a European, born in The Netherlands. She holds degrees in international law, political affairs, Arabic literature and speaks next to her native Dutch language, English, French, German and Arabic.
