EU Ambassador holds talks with Libyan political leaders

EU Ambassador José Sabadell and the new Head of the European Union Integrated Border Management Assistance Mission in Libya, Natalina Cea, met in Tripoli with President of the Presidential Council Mohamed Al Menfi, members of the new Presidential Council Moussa Al Kouni and Abdullah Al Lafi, as well as Prime Minister-designate Abdulhamid Al Dabaiba.

The talks focused on the political process and the importance of moving forward towards the elections scheduled for 24 December; necessary measures to improve access to basic services (electricity, water, health services) for all in Libya, and the importance of the approval of a unified budget in this context.

Discussions also addressed migration, the dire situation for migrants in Libyan detention centres, the urgent need to improve the protection of the rights of migrants and a closer cooperation in the management of migration flows.
