The first anniversary of the Partnership between the European Union and Tunisia devoted to youth was celebrated on 4 December at Carthage presidential palace. The EU ambassador to Tunisia Patrice Bergamini, together with 14 young Tunisians representing the fields of culture and entrepreneurship as well as higher education, was received by the Tunisian president Beji Caïd Essebsi.

The young visitors shared their experiences with the President: an Erasmus+ beneficiary evoked her student exchange program in Europe, and another young man talked about the support he received as an association member in Gafsa. Young creators, artists and entrepreneurs also brought up their experiences and the challenges they faced before their success. All these testimonials are a symbol of hope to the Tunisian young people.

This privileged partnership was launched at the highly symbolic meeting between the President of Tunisia Beji Caïd Essebsi and EU High Representative Federica Mogherini on 1st December 2016. This first anniversary was marked by some satisfying achievements reached throughout this year, such as the tripling of Erasmus+ scholarships, an improvement in the access to microcredits, and aims at the reinforcement of the cooperation in the field of youth in the coming years.
