TunisiaThe EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood supports the current and future process of the structured dialogue between civil society and the EU
On 4 December, the EU-funded Majalat board was invited to discuss most pressing and future regional challenges with the new EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargment, Oliver Varhelyi. Representatives of the six organisations of the Majalat consortium (Alternatives Forum Morocco, Arab NGO Network for Development, Arab Trade Union Confederation, Euromed Rights, Euromed France Network and Solidar) took this key opportunity for expressing civil society hopes and concerns regarding the current and future EU South Neighbourhood policy.
The EU Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi expressed his support to the current process and for the future of the structured dialogue between civil society and the European Union.
This meeting took place the day after the conclusion of the Brussels Civil Society Forum co-organised by the European Commission and Majalat, which gathered more than 160 participants from NGOs, trade unions, think thank, business associations and academics from the Southern Mediterranean. The Forum was focused on the following priority themes : good governance and rule of law, economic development and social dialogue, migration and mobility, security and countering violence, climate and social justice.
