EU-funded CapDeL programme : grants for 11 community development projects in Algeria

A grant award ceremony for 11 community development projects was held on 29 October in Algiers, as part of the implementation of the EU-funded programme Capacity Building Program for Local Development Actors (CapDeL).

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities and Territorial Planning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the EU Delegation to Algeria, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and representatives of beneficiary associations.The selected projects for funding cover various sectors (Agriculture, Crafts and Heritage, Health, Environment, Tourism, Entrepreneurship), defined as priorities for local development by local actors, consistent with potential, vocation and challenges. territories of pilot municipalities.

The themes of the projects also reflect the strategic vision of development defined in a participatory, concerted and inclusive way by local actors (elected representatives, local administration, civil society organizations, economic actors, young people, women, etc.) grouped together in the citizen participation bodies that they helped set up (Communal Advisory Councils), with support from CapDeL.
