EU-funded MENAWARA project launched to promote water re-use in agriculture in Mediterranean countries

A press meeting was held on 18 November in the historical building of the University of Sassari in Italy to meet the local and national press and announce the official launch of EU-funded MENAWARA project, in the framework of ENI CBC MED programme.

Project manager prof. Pier Paolo Roggero informed the Press about the objectives of the project and the partners involved in MENAWARA, while Communication Manager dr. Tonito Solinas described the innovative story telling-based approach that will be developed by the project and, in general, by the ENI CBC MED programme.

MENAWARA project (Non Conventional WAter Re-use in Agriculture in MEditerranean countries) is designed to enhance access to water through the treatment of wastewater to be re-used as complementary irrigation and to strengthen the capacity of governmental institutions, non-state actors operating in the sector, technicians, and farmers in Italy, Spain, Palestine, Jordan and Tunisia. It will last until August 2022 and has a total budget of €2.4 million (EU contribution: €2.2 million).
