On 7 and 8 December, the EU and the Human Rights Democracy Network organise the 23rd EU-NGO Human Rights Forum. The focus of this year’s virtual forum is on how to better protect civic space worldwide and promote a rights-based recovery.

In 13 panels and interactive sessions, the EU, civil society, UN experts and members of academia will discuss recovering from the impact that the coronavirus pandemic has had on fundamental freedoms such as civic space online and offline, freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, access to health, including universal healthcare, sexual and reproductive rights as well as economic, social and labour rights, such as child labour and social protection.

More than 500 NGOs and human rights defenders from more than 100 countries are expected to participate in the Forum.
