EU organises workshop on volunteering, population information and people response facing crisis

A workshop on “Volunteerism, Population information and people response facing crisis” kicked off in Madrid, Spain, in the framework of the EU-funded PPRD South 3 project. Mr Federico Fernandez, Deputy Director of Training and Institutional relations, Antonia Garces, Head of Training of the National School of Civil Protection and Ms Silvia Negro, Head of International Affairs of the Spanish Civil Protection opened the session.

Seven countries are represented to work on this important component of involving the population with 3 objectives in mind: Promoting the creation of volunteer civil protection departments within south partner countries, supporting civil protection authorities to develop volunteer’s department and certificating voluntaries at the civilian level to support emergencies and special events.

The overall objective of EU-funded PPRD South 3 is to contribute to increasing resilience and reducing the social, economic and environmental costs of natural and man-made disasters in the ENP South region, based on the results of the PPRD South Program and the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).
