The EU Ambassador to Egypt Christian Berger joined the Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, the Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir, and his colleagues the French Ambassador Stéphane Romatet and the Head of EIB office Alfredo Abad to witness the arrival of the Tunnel Boring Machine at Cairo Metro Line 3 Kit Kat station.
The European Union, the European Investment Bank and the AFD (Agence Française de Développement) support the construction of Line 3 with EUR 943 million.
Ambassador Berger said that “the EU supports green growth in Egypt in line with the spirit of the EU Green Deal. Green, clean and sustainable transportation will reduce the environmental impact and socio-economic costs, reduce congestion and create jobs”.
