The European Union organized the #EUGreenDay on 26 September 2018 at the Beirut Hippodrome, bringing together Lebanese and European families to raise awareness about the need to protect green spaces, especially in urban areas like Beirut. The event was an opportunity for everyone to connect with nature and engage in fun intercultural exchange.

The #EUGreenDay event was targeted at children and families, and was open to the public. A number of activities were planned for the whole family including outdoor and kermesse games, fun artistic ateliers, ‘green’ workshops and more. A bike ride was also organized with Beirut by Bike from the Beirut Waterfront to the Hippodrome. In addition, local and European specialties were offered by Souk El Akel, one of Lebanon’s top street food festivals.

Respecting the environment and protecting green spaces are key priorities for the European Union.
