The network of think tanks EuroMeSCo (Euro-Mediterranean Study Commission) highlighted in its annual conference report that the security situation in the MENA region has a direct cost for the EU and therefore it should be accepted that the EU’s future will be determined in part in its southern border, “hence the need for a sustained and revamped policy”.
The report presents the contribution of researchers and experts from research centres and think tanks from 30 European and southern and eastern Mediterranean countries who discussed on the 14 and 15 April in Brussels the security challenges facing the Euro-Mediterranean region and the role the EU should have.
The conference was organised as part of the EU-funded project “Euro-Mediterranean Political Research and Dialogue for Inclusive Policy-Making Processes”, which fosters research and dialogue on Euro-Mediterranean policies led by the IEMed together with the EuroMeSCo network. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
