The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) are inviting you to join the webinar “Scaling up Green Financing: Accelerating support towards Green, Innovative Investments and Building a Resilient Future” on Thursday 03 September 2020, at 12:30 UK time.

The current pandemic poses a major risk for the global economy, exposing financial vulnerabilities, and testing the post-financial crisis economic model. Sustainable investing is very much part of Covid-19 response, governments, central banks, investors and financial institutions, have a vital role to play in investing in a green economy. The world requires €6.2 trillion of investment by 2030 to limit global warming to 2 degrees.

The ESG investment and sustainable bond had gained a lot of traction before Covid and pulled in around $130 billion in sustainable options in 2019. The green bond market, which is one of the bellwethers of ESG pulled in $300 billion in the same year. Despite Covid, the issuance of green, social, and sustainable bonds reached $120.1 billion in April 2020 due to Covid theme social bond issuances.

This session will cover the following:

  • The Green Economy Transition approach to help countries build low carbon & resilient future.
  • Boosting investments towards a green economy, promoting renewable energy and combating climate change.
  • Discussing the policy requirements for standardization of green finance practice, supporting market development for green investments at a global level & supporting developing countries in developing and implementing national sustainable finance roadmaps
