The European Union-funded “European Solidarity Response to Covid-19 in Algeria” project will provide 60 million face masks to workers in the sector by the end of this year, to support government efforts to address the pandemic.

A first delivery of 6 million masks was received at the beginning of this month.

In addition to health masks, the project has received 400,000 antigenic tests, 100,000 PCR extraction kits, 20,000 PCR tests, and two screening devices.

The project will also train 5,000 public health executives and practitioners (doctors, nurses, technicians) in the use of equipment and the management of Covid-19 patients.

Under the communication component, the project carried out two training sessions on crisis communication in a pandemic context and is planning support to civil society for the launch of a national awareness campaign on barrier actions and vaccination.
