Yesterday, May 8th 2018, the closing of the MED TEST II project from SwitchMed and UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) was organized in Algiers. The event happened with the presence of Ms Roberta De Palma, representative of UNIDO, and representatives of the European Union in Algeria.
Since 2015, 12 companies from the Algerian food and beverage industry have been focusing on how to adopt more sustainable production practices within their production. During the event, they presented their experiences and results to national stakeholders and Algerian industries, interested in learning the benefits from a resource-efficient production.
The SwitchMed sustainable consumption and production programme aims to promote a switch by the Mediterranean economies towards sustainable consumption and production patterns and green economy, including low-emission development, through demonstration and dissemination of methods that improve resource and energy efficiency. It also seeks to minimise the environmental impacts associated with the life cycle of products and services and, where possible, to promote renewable energy.
