Clima-Med beneficiary cities and its key partners in the South Mediterranean region gathered to attend the project’s fifth Steering Committee Meeting in Amman, Jordan, under the auspices of Ms Cristina Casella, Programme Manager at the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) in the European Commission and Mr. Omar Abu Eid, Energy, Environment & Climate Change Programme Manager in the EU Delegation in Jordan

The meeting brought together more than 60 participants in person and online representing cities and partner institutions, including the European Commission, national focal points, Mayors and their municipal technical teams, the National Coordinator Groups, IFIs, and Global climate actors.

The Clima-Med team presented the project’s results, its progress, foreseen extension activities and sustainability prospects, namely following the completion of the SEACAPs, noting challenges met and lessons learned to facilitate climate finance and along the implementation of the C4C projects. The team also reported on the engagement of National and Local Authorities to institutionalise the NCGs and CoM Med operations, and their willingness to take part in the communication actions planned for the extension phase of the Project.

The two days’ sessions made room for encounters with conducive and open discussions, experience sharing, and fruitful interactions that punctuated the sessions. This raised awareness of the increasing need to create synergies and spaces for knowledge and exchange of know-how.
