The fifth edition of the #EUBeachCleanup organised by the European Union Delegation to Tunisia will take place on 21 September at Gammarth Beach.

The European Union Delegation to Tunisia reaffirms its commitment to environmental conservation through this annual rendezvous that brings together staff of the EUD, EU Member States and the general public for a clean-up and awareness-raising action based on the environmental stakes in play and the importance of the marine ecosystem.

The main objective of this campaign is to raise awareness in the community of the importance of conserving and protecting the coastal environment as well as driving home the negative environmental effects of pollution on the sea and beaches.

The programme features:

  • Releasing sea turtles
  • Sorting of waste

This campaign aims to instil in people, especially children, a sense of environmental responsibility for keeping our beaches clean and an understanding of the importance of the marine environment for the generations to come.

“The coast is the silent witness of our history, our traditions and our identity. Let’s protect it in order to preserve our past and build our future.”
