On the occasion of World Disability Day 2016 (3 December), Mr Rupert Joy, Ambassador of the European Union to Morocco, invited fellow EU ambassadors to the headquarters of the Moroccan Association for Support to People with Down Syndrome (AMSAT), to discover the know-how of young people with disabilities trained in the framework of the training restaurant created with the support of the EU.

The European Union supported the creation of the training restaurant and the setting up of a vocational training curriculum focused on the food sector to promote the situation of young people with Down’s syndrome. 36 young people are currently being trained.

This year again, young people trained by the association participated in the 14th edition of the Gourm’Hand culinary competition held in France and finished in 4th place. Last year, Rachid Saihi, a cook at AMSAT, won the prestigious event and was named honorary president of the jury this year.

The restaurant is open 4 days a week to all those wishing to discover the know-how of the young people trained.
