“Promoting the empowerment of women for inclusive and sustainable industrial development in Tunisia” is the objective of the joint declaration recently signed by Monaco’s Department of External Relations and Cooperation, the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).

The initiative aims to contribute to the overall effort to facilitate women’s micro, small and medium-sized enterprises’ access to finance, markets, technology and business networks. Moreover, this successful project is another link in the series of tangible projects or initiatives that the UfM fosters as a testimony of its action-driven agenda towards gender equality and women empowerment.

In Tunisia, this pilot project supports women entrepreneurs who invest in cosmetics and parapharmaceuticals based on natural products. Within this framework, technical assistance, training and study trips were set up for around ten women companies.

Learn more here about this project and one of its beneficiaries, Hajer Derouiche, founder of an innovative startup.
