“The EU supports Israel’s goal of opening up the Israeli market”, the EU Ambassador to Israel, Lars Faaborg-Andersen, said at a meeting with the Presidium of the Federation of the Israeli Chambers of Commerce in early February, according to a statement from the EU Delegation in Israel.
“Europe’s economic relations with Israel are stronger than with any third country. The EU is expected to remain Israel’s largest trade partner”, the EU ambassador said, adding that annual EU-Israel trade, which has reached EUR 30 billion, was maintained in 2015 and was even expected to increase. The EU, he said, would remain Israel’s largest economic partner for the foreseeable future.
