Joint EU project to support the prevention of torture in Morocco to be launched

A high-level online meeting will be held on 26 January to mark the official launch of the project “Support to the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture in Morocco”, implemented in the framework of the larger joint programme between the European Union and the Council of Europe entitled “Support to the national mechanism for the prevention of torture in Morocco and to the development of Parliament’s role in Morocco” (2020-2023).
This restricted event will bring together representatives of the Council of Europe, the European Union, the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH), as well as representatives of national institutions, international organisations and civil society organisations in Morocco.

The general objective of this 36-month project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe, is to support the national mechanism for the prevention of torture in Morocco through capacity building of the CNDH members.
