In response to an invitation by the Jordanian Independent Election Commission (IEC), the EU will deploy an Election Observation Mission (EOM) to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Jordan scheduled for 20 September.
To mark this occasion, EU Ambassador to Jordan Andrea Fontana and IEC Chairman Dr. Khaled Kalaldeh signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Ambassador Fontana said that “the deployment of a second EU Election Observation Mission (1st was in 2013) serves to highlight this unwavering support to Jordan’s continued democratization.” (EU Neighbourhood Info)
