As guest of honour of a ‘civil society training initiative’ organised, on Monday 14 March 2016, in Paris by Facebook, Anna Lindh Foundation Chairperson Élisabeth Guigou called for support for NGOs on the front-line of the fight against online extremism. She highlighted the need for a mapping exercise to identify the signs of online radicalisation and have the necessary mechanisms in place to prevent it.

The training event in Paris brought together civil society, NGOs and academic research institutions to build capacity for strategic communications and share best practices for campaigns against online extremism and hate speech. “Civil society is best placed to build a positive, alternative narrative for the Mediterranean”, Guigou said in her opening address at the event.
