PPRD South II, a programme for prevention, readiness and response to natural and man-made disasters, financed by the EU (5 million euros) – organised a meeting with its Steering Committee on 2 and 3 February in Brussels, and drafted an overview of its activities, which brought a great content to its members.

“We have reached maturity. We must now enter a phase of continuity and adequacy”, said one of the participants as quoted in the final press release. “PPRD is more than a project, it is a fully evolutive process”, said the managers of this 3-year-long programme, which will be completed in August 2016.

According to the press release, the results are: 8 conferences, 5 regional and national training workshops, 4 regional crisis media and communication training workshops, 3 regional seminars (risk mapping, contingency planning, technological risks), 8 exchanges of experts, 1 national training series on risk evaluation.

The programme managers emphasized that the added value of the programme is connected to the standardisation process of HNS (Host Nation Support) and OSOCC (On-Site Operation Coordination Centre) procedures, and to the regional exchange platform.
