On 5 November, MEDREG held an online webinar titled “Navigating Policies and Regulations for a Mediterranean Green Hydrogen Market: Showcasing Spain and Morocco’s Pioneering Efforts“, under the impulsion of its Green Hydrogen Task Force.
This webinar provided an initial exploration of key existing policies, particularly those of the European Union, poised to have significant implications for hydrogen development and trade in the region.
By examining and discussing the specifics of these policies, including their objectives, mechanisms, and anticipated impacts, energy regulatory authorities gained valuable insights into the regulatory landscape shaping the future of green hydrogen.
The first presentation shed light on the policies concerning green hydrogen development in Europe and their potential impact on green hydrogen development in the Mediterranean region. Participants looked deeply at carbon adjustment mechanisms and other relevant European directives.
The webinar featured case studies on the pioneering efforts of Morocco and Spain in the development of green hydrogen focusing on key projects, policies, and outcomes. It concluded with a roundtable discussion opening exchanges on the implications of the presented policies and case studies, and providing food for thought to the Hydrgogen Task Force.
