The Council of Europe and the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor’s Office are organising on 9 and 10 march in Rabat, in the aftermath of International Women’s Day, an activity aimed at strengthening the role of prosecutors in the fight against violence against women and domestic violence.

Theoretical and practical working sessions will involve confirmed experts from Morocco and the Council of Europe and will be based on applicable national, international standards, including the Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention and Control of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (Istanbul Convention) and other relevant international conventions.

This initiative is supported by the joint programme between the European Union and the Council of Europe entitled Regional Support to Reinforce Human Rights, rule of law and democracy in the South of the Mediterranean (South Programme IV), cofounded by both organisations and implemented by the Council of Europe, as well as by the European Union sectoral support programme for justice reform.
