The Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency, the National Agency for SMEs promotion, the European Union through the Support Programme to Competitiveness and Green Growth, the Solar Cluster and the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) organised the closing ceremony of the Initiative for green entrepreneurship Ecostart. This event, which took place online on 28 January and attended by 50 participants, was the occasion to promote the 50 projects supported and to reward 10 green project leaders who have distinguished themselves with innovative and sustainable proposals.

The call for projects launched in June 2020, despite a challenging health environment related to the COVID-19 pandemic, has been very successful in receiving more than 360 project proposals from entrepreneurs, 30% of whom are women, from different parts of the kingdom. These projects cover different sectors such as waste management, renewable energy, energy efficiency, green IT and eco-solutions related to managing or responding to health and economic crises.

All projects received were offered 5 days of online workshops and coaching sessions. 45 of them formalised their business plan and strengthened their products and services for better market access. At the end of the support period, 10 projects have been selected by a jury of experts and will receive a financial allocation for their start-up investments.
