Within the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP), oversight, enhanced accountability and investigation of disciplinary issues is the responsibility of the Internal Security Department. As such, internal security becomes a key component in eliminating malpractices and misconduct. The concept was thoroughly discussed in a specialized two-day workshop for 30 police officers working for the Internal Security Department of the PCP.

The event was anchored by three EUPOL COPPS Police Advisers with extensive experience in this field of expertise. The advisers were supported by a visiting Swedish expert who provided a comprehensive presentation on acquiring information and data from mobile phone devices and analysing it, to be used as a supportive evidence.

The aim of the training, which was concluded yesterday in Ramallah, was to enhance the capabilities of the participants on information management with emphasis on working with different sources of information and its analytical advantages, case file management, as well as specialized investigation and interview techniques in complex cases of internal investigations.

The training, which was funded and organized by EUPOL COPPS, will be followed by two additional workshops. The Training Department of the PCP contributed to coordinating the event according to the annual training schedule of the PCP.

EUPOL COPPS is the European Union Co-ordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support. The aim of the Mission is to contribute to the establishment of sustainable and effective policing arrangements and to advise Palestinian counterparts on criminal justice and rule of law related aspects under Palestinian ownership.
