Refugees: EU launches emergency instrument to support EU countries facing refugee crisis

On Wednesday 9 March 2016, the European Commission welcomed, through its spokesperson, “the agreement reached between Member States” on the basis of its proposal to put in place an “emergency aid instrument” to provide faster support to EU countries facing “major humanitarian crises”, such as those currently faced by a large number of refugees. EUR 700 million are proposed for the next three years.
