REUSEMED in Tunisia promotes the reduction of organic waste at household level

A workshop to promote individual composting was organised on 22 February 2023 at the Cité des Sciences in Tunis. The meeting took place within the month of clean cities, an initiative launched by the Tunisian Ministry of Environment.

 

The person in charge of the REUSEMED project at the National Agency for Waste Management (ANGed) in Tunisia detailed the objectives, the partners and the contribution of the project to accomplish a reduction of the organic fraction of household waste through home composting. To achieve this,150 composters will be purchased by the project for the benefit of households in Sakiet Ezzit near Sfax, as the municipality is partner of REUSEMED.

 

The presentation aroused the interest of the participants, among whom were the General Director of the Cité des Sciences, members of the executive office of the Order of Tunisian Engineers, the Dean of the Higher Institute of Environmental Technology (lyceum), and several representatives of the Ministry of the Environment.
