The Civil Liberties Committee of the European Parliament began, on Wednesday 20 April 2016, a discussion on links between organised crime and terrorism, how to handle people returning from conflict zones, de-radicalisation and the need for a common definition of terrorism and means to prove terrorist intent.

The debate took place with the participation of Michèle Coninsx, Chair of Eurojust – the EU’s judicial cooperation agency. On Thursday afternoon, members of parliament will discuss “the fight against terrorism”. The text proposes criminalising preparatory terrorist acts, such as journeys for terrorist purposes.
