The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, will be in Tunis, Friday January 8. At this occasion, she will give a press conference with Libyan Prime Minister, Dr. Fayez Sarraj.

In a statement, today, Mrs. Mogherini declared: «once again Libya has been targeted by terrible violence, once again the Libyans are mourning victims of an attack».

According to the media reports, at least 50 people have been killed by a truck bomb targeting a police training centre in the western Libyan city of Zliten. Other media sources reported fights, including four against fuel tanks which caught fire in northern Libya.

Mrs Mogherini said “the people of Libya deserve peace and security. With the Libyan Political Agreement, they have a great opportunity to set aside their divisions and work together, united, against the terrorist threat facing their country».

«The quick implementation of the Libyan Political Agreement will be instrumental, so that a Government of National Accord can be established as soon as possible, to defend all Libyan citizens. It will also help preserve Libya’s resources, defeat terrorists that want to undermine Libya’s prosperity, and restore stability and security throughout the country».
