NET-MED Youth launched on November 7, 2017, the “Youth and Media in Palestine Survey” – a discussion paper elaborated in partnership with the Arab World for Research and Development (AWRAD).

The launch seminar brought together more than 25 young journalists, media professionals, academicians, government and civil society representatives and young women and men representing youth organizations. The purpose was to understand the perception of Palestinian youth of national and regional media, and to think of ways to improve understanding of how youth relate to media, and how they engage with and are represented in different media platforms.

We can support media institutions by providing training and capacity building to promote and improve youth-related content and the way media covers topics of relevance to young Palestinians. We also need to give a higher attention to Media and information literacy,” said Nibal Thawabta, Journalist and Media Specialist at Birzeit University Media Development Center.

NET-MED Youth aims to improve the access and effective participation of young people in mainstreaming their priorities into legislation and national planning in the Southern Mediterranean Partner countries. Specifically, it aims to build the capacities of youth organisations in the region and to enhance networking among them in order to reduce the fragmentation of efforts and harness the collective potential of young people in achieving democratic transition towards active citizenship, political participation and social inclusion.
