On 12 April, a new series of podcasts was launched in Jordan – the ‘Takatof’, meaning ‘Shoulder to Shoulder’, produced with the support of the European Union, through the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis (the Madad Fund), as part of the EU’s support to the Syria refugee crisis over a decade.
The podcast is a series of 15-minute dialogues, reflecting on the Syria crisis, 10 years on. The public will hear the voices of refugees from Syria, Jordanians, and representatives from the Government of Jordan, the European Union and partner organisations sharing their views on one of one of the most profound and challenging refugee crisis in modern history. The podcast will touch upon key sectors of aid to Jordan, including health, primary and higher education, environment and women and, not the least, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In Takatof’s first episode, EU Ambassador to Jordan Maria Hadjitheodosiou, UNHCR’s Dominik Bartsch, and UNICEF’s Tanya Chapuisat are discussing the EU’s and its partners’ response to the Syrian crisis and its impact on host communities in Jordan, after the arrival of Syrian refugees in the country.
