In the frame of the Pilot Action on marine litter, BlueMed launches a Hackathon team challenge to develop ideas and solutions for a Healthy Plastic Free Mediterranean Sea, to promote sustainable blue growth and circular bio economy in the Mediterranean. Registration for the event must be made before 10 May.

The Hackathon is dedicated to 18-30 years old Master and PhD candidates or graduates in STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) as well as designer/creatives with no restriction on geographical origin nor working country.

Participants, in a guided and collaborative mode, will compete in teams to propose solutions to the problem of the assigned challenge. The selection of winners (one winner team for each challenge) will be made by a jury of experts.

BLUEMED is the research and innovation Initiative for promoting the blue economy in the Mediterranean Basin through cooperation. It is the strategy of reference for the Mediterranean countries to work together for a healthy, safe and productive Mediterranean Sea. The BLUEMED Initiative will contribute to the creation of new ‘blue’ jobs, social well-being and a sustainable growth in the marine and maritime sectors through the implementation of its Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda, the BLUEMED SRIA.
