As part of the celebrations to mark the International day of living together in peace, the European Union delegation in Algeria held a round table on the subject of “Living together and the challenges of an inclusive society: discussing the potential for peaceful coexistence between different cultural and religious identities”.
The event brought together prominent philosophers, intellectuals, researchers and religious leaders capable of contributing a wide range of approaches and perspectives. Discussions focused on education as a means of fostering a culture of peace and the principles of living together in Islam, as well as respect for difference when promoting mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence between different communities, cultures and civilisations.
Participants also discussed the major challenges in terms of respect for the principles of coexistence and the means of overcoming them.
