An EU-funded Twinning project aimed at strengthening the maritime administration and authority was launched on Thursday 12 May in Tunisia.

The programme, funded with EUR 1.3 million, aims to set up an appropriate structure to promote maritime governance and compliance with international conventions, improve the efficiency of services related to maritime transport, and strengthen the security and safety of port facilities and maritime navigation.

Some 32 French, Dutch and German experts will support Tunisian maritime sector workers to improve their capacities in the fields of maritime economy, management of port concessions, marine environment protection, development of commercial fleets, ship inspection, monitoring of maritime traffic and navigation safety in Tunisian waters.
