The Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Mr Fathallah Sijilmassi, and the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Mr Ahmed Aboul Gheit, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two organisations with a view to strengthening mutual collaboration and promoting regional cooperation activities.

The UfM Secretariat and the League of Arab States agree to regularly exchange relevant information, jointly promote regional cooperation initiatives, co-organise events, as well as plan study visits and exchange of experiences among officials and experts in the fields of common interest.

“An enhanced cooperation between the League of Arab States and the Union for the Mediterranean provides an essential framework to jointly contribute towards development, integration and security in the region. A key common goal is to open up opportunities for the many young people in the region and this partnership provides a great basis for this”, said UfM Secretary General, Mr Sijilmassi.
