The European Union in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), in cooperation with the Embassies of Spain, Belgium, and Greece, Societá Dante Alighieri (Italy) and the Institut Francais de Jordanie-Embassy of France, are pleased to celebrate the 4th edition of the Comics Week in Jordan from 21 to 27 May.

At the opening ceremony of the Comics Week on 20 May, the EU Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan H.E. Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas said: “Visual arts have a unique power: images tell stories, raise awareness and support intercultural dialogue. This week, European and Jordanian Comics artists will join force to pay tribute to the victims of war, recall the primacy of human rights and international law, and gather behind a message of peace. Those values are at the heart of the partnership between Jordan and the European Union’.

Senior representatives of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East joined the ceremony to commend Jordan for its support to their operations and underscore the vital importance of assistance and protection for refugees.
