Leading young debaters from the Arab region and Europe have been invited to show-case their work at this year’s European Development Days in Brussels, Europe’s primary forum on international cooperation and development, organised by the European Commission since 2006.

A special Lab Debate will be held on 8 June, at 13.30, as part of the official programme of the EDDs, to share pioneering practice in regional cooperation and the grass-root experience of young debaters from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Germany and the UK.

The Lab Debate is being organised in association with “Young Mediterranean Voices”, the region’s flag-ship debate programme that was recently announced for expansion by the European Commission and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini. Young Mediterranean Voices builds on the success of its forerunner Young Arab Voices, co-created in 2011 by the Anna Lindh Foundation and British Council, and aims to transform youth policy from debate into action with the backing of the EU and a new consortium of partners, including the World Leadership Alliance-Club de Madrid, Centre for Mediterranean Integration (CMI), World Bank Group, Government of Finland, MEDAC, Facebook and Friends of Europe.
