Criteria for Participation:

All designers from all design fields are invited to participate if they meet the following criteria:

1. English speakers.
2. All submitted designs have to represent the Egyptian culture in a contemporary style.
5 designs should be submitted to include:
– Design for a smart product.
– Design for a lighting unit.
– Design for mixed materials product (e.g. glass & copper, wood & marmar, pottery & glass).
– Design for an Egyptian heritage themed product.
A complete description of the story behind each design and estimated cost of manufacturing are required.
Products should be :
1. Creative: a strong and creative identity, innovative and genuine design.
2. Reproducible: functional, practical, feasible, low in cost and mass production potential.
3. Sell-able: best value for money and address the international market needs.

3. Designs are for handcrafted furniture pieces & home accessories such as – but not limited to – chairs, tables, armchairs, light units, pottery, glass, alabaster, home textile ,rugs… etc are in our competition; only Fashion and Jewelry are excluded.
4. All new and innovative ideas of products, accessories, materials, or production techniques associated with or contributing to the handicraft industry are eligible for submission.
5. All the presented products ideas have to be the original work of the applicant and not copied nor borrowed, otherwise they will be subject to exclusion.
6. All ideas have to be at a good level of maturity.
7. Portfolio of the designers must be submitted.

* Applications are available at the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC) head Quarters 1195 Corniche ElNile, Federation of Egyptian Industries Bldg. second floor to be filled in before proposal submission till 30th July 2018 with a payment of 50 L.E.
– Place your designs on a CD and deliver it to IMC from 1st to 15th August 2018.
– Selected designers will sign a legal binding contract with IMC detailing the project phases, terms and conditions.

* Competition Phases:
– Jury members will choose 8-10 winner designers in the final phase .
– Selected Designs and portfolios will be mentored by an international designer to finalize the selected products that will participate in the fair .
– IMC represented in Creative Hub Egypt will guide , assist and support the winning designers in manufacturing their prototypes to be ready for photo shooting .

– Exhibit and Participate at NY Design Week May 17-21, 2019.
– Get the opportunity to attend specialized study tours in New York.
– Participate in B2B meeting and represent your products to the exhibition visitors and buyers.
