The Lina Ben Mhenni Prize for Freedom of Expression returns for its fourth edition. Created by the European Union, this prize rewards the best articles defending the principles and values of democracy, freedoms, and rights shared between Tunisia and the EU.

Established in 2020 to honor the legacy of the late Lina Ben Mhenni, this competition aims to support and contribute to the promotion of quality print journalism in Tunisia.

The European Union also supports Tunisian media through the Media Support Program (PAMT 2) and the Support Project for Independent Bodies in Tunisia (PAII-T), of which the Independent High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HAICA) is a part.

These are examples illustrating the EU’s commitment to assisting Tunisian media in achieving free, independent, and credible information.

Press freedom is a valuable achievement and a priority for the EU that needs to be safeguarded, along with the protection of its stakeholders.
