While in the past the emphasis has been heavily on increasing output levels by expanding the labour force, recent studies are increasingly making the point that a more diverse workforce also holds potential to raise aggregate productivity by bringing different and often complementary sets of skills and experiences to the workplace. This paper discusses the potential contributions of gender equality to growth in the EU.
