Vocational education is addressing the skills mismatch between what is being taught in traditional secondary education and what is needed in the jobs market. This is one of the findings of the “Key Indicators on Education, Skills and Employment” (KIESE) report, which has just been published by the European Training Foundation (ETF).
These KIESE are a collection of statistics that are part of a broader set of indicators proposed by the ETF to enable an assessment of developments in the field of human capital in the partner countries. They include data on vocational education and training (VET), skills, employment and labour market outcomes.
This document presents the main findings and results from the 2019 data compilation exercise. It provides an essential, though partial, overview of the system, and one which needs to be read in conjunction with countries’ own strategies, process developments and indigenous factors that can impact the performance of the sector.
