After the revolution and the enactment of the law on freedom of association, Tunisian civil society has developed well and continues to play a key role in the several areas, in particular ensuring and upholding democracy and human rights.
The European Union and its member states support civil society in order to help it strengthen its capacity and actively contribute to the development and oversight of public policy. The roadmap for EU and EU member state engagement with Tunisian civil society defines priority areas of intervention in order to harness synergies and maximise the impact of this support.
