Algeria received a second donation of 758,400 doses of Covid-19 vaccine on 21 May under the UN Covax mechanism.

A first delivery was made on 3 April at Algiers International Airport.

The EU, together with its Member States, is the largest donor to the COVAX mechanism. To date, Team Europe, which combines the resources of the EU, its Member States and its financial institutions, has announced more than €2.2 billion, including €1 billion from the EU budget, for this mechanism.

COVAX is a global facility representing a partnership between the World Health Organization (WHO), the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Vaccination (GAVI) and the Coalition for Innovations in Preparedness for Epidemics (CEPI).
