Algerian Foreign Minister in Brussels talks with Mogherini

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini held talks with Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra in Brussels on 15 February, confirming that an EU-Algeria Association Council would take place on 13 March. 

Pointing to the encouraging developments in relations, Mogherini reiterated the EU’s desire to strengthen relations with Algeria. The European Union-Algeria partnership will from now on be based on the “partnership priorities” identified jointly within the framework of the renewed European Neighborhood Policy, which will be formally adopted at the Association Council, a press release said.

Lamamra and Mogherini also discussed common regional challenges, including security, terrorism and migration. The EU High Representative welcomed Algeria’s efforts to monitor the peace agreements in Mali and mediate with other regional actors in Libya.
